Windows: AutoPatcher, the small but powerful utility that makes it easy to install Windows updates while offline, and on multiple systems, has added support for Windows 7, giving users more control over when and how they update their systems.

Windows/Mac/Linux: Launchy, the little application launcher that could, has introduced a Mac version with its latest beta. Bug fixes, performance overhauls, and new shortcuts and controls are also baked into this beta for every system.

Firefox/Chrome: Sure it's nice and all that we get Gmail for free, but those ads to the right of open messages aren't really all that helpful. Free browser add-on Rapportive replaces Gmail ads with contact info about the sender.

Windows/Mac/Linux: Mozilla's second Developer Preview of Firefox 4.0's framework and back-end highlights a feature we'd heard was coming: separate processes for plug-ins. That means if (when) Flash or another plug-in crashes, there's a good chance your browser won't go with it.

The shiny new Boxee Beta didn't launch with Apple TV support, but there was a geeky hack to load it up. Now it's much, much easier to install, or upgrade, the Beta onto Apple's would-be HD media center.

Windows/Mac: It also adds improvements for the opera:config page and local storage, but the newest beta of the seriously speedy Opera 10.5 is mostly about fixing and tweaking little things.

Windows/Mac: VoxOx is a snazzy chat and social networking app for keeping in touch with your friends. We've mentioned it before, but VoxOx is even more useful now that it has a real-time translation tool.
